Netflix has acquired the rights to show Ukrainian political comedy series Servant of the People produced by Kvartal 95. The world’s leading Internet TV network will make the series available soon to its more than 83 million viewers worldwide.

The deal with Netflix was closed by Eccho Rights, Kvartal 95’s long-time partner in distributing the series and the format worldwide.

The story is about ordinary school teacher who becomes the President of Ukraine. He tries to live an ordinary life without all ‘President’s privileges’ and fights with the army of corrupted and deceitful bureaucrats. The series became the highest rated TV-product of the last season in all demos and a real hit on Ukrainian TV and Internet. ‘Servant of the People’ also was the winner of Worldfest Houston International Film Festival (US) and finalist of WorldMediaFestival (Germany) and International Seoul Drama Awards (South Korea).

In August 2016 Kvartal 95 started production of the feature movie and second season of the series.

Earlier this week was announced that a deal is in place with Fox Television Studios to remake the hit Ukrainian comedy format ‘Servant of The People’. The first season as readymade product was sold to Estonia, Moldova and Kazakhstan.
