Haluk Bilginer, the leading actor of Ay Yapım’s 12-episode series Şahsiyet (Persona) aired on puhutv, received the Best Performance by and Actor award at the 47th International Emmy Awards that took place on November 25, 2019. Haluk Bilginer became the first International Emmy Award winning Turkish actor.

Haluk Bilginer attended the ceremony that took place in New York together with Şahsiyet’s director Onur Saylak, screenwriter Hakan Günday and Ay Yapım’s CEO Kerem Çatay and started his acceptance speech by saying ‘Hello’ in Turkish. Bilginer thanked the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the creative team of the series. He dedicated his award to his daughter with these words: ‘I would like to accept this award for my daughter Nazlı Bilginer, hoping that one day she will choose to be an actress’

Haluk Bilginer was a finalist in the Best Performance by an Actor category along with Christopher Eccleston (BBC - Come Home) from the UK, Raphael Logam (Barry Company – Impuros) from Brazil and Jannis Niewöhner (Amazon- Beat) from Germany. 44 nominees from 21 countries competed in 11 categories in this year’s awards.

Şahsiyet (Persona) was produced by Ay Yapım, written by Hakan Günday, directed by Onur Saylak, aired on puhutv in 2018 and was immensely popular among viewers.
