Nordic World pushes into CEE with multiple format deals
Nordic World has closed four format deals in Poland two months after the opening of its new CEE sales hub in Budapest.
The deals were brokered out of Hungary by Emese Acs, director of sales and acquisitions for CEE, CIS, the German-speaking territories, the Middle East, Turkey and Asia, including China. Danish factual entertainment format U-Turn has been licensed by Warsaw-based Hotpot Media. The Doceye format, which aims to turn eight stressed and unhealthy pill addicts into eight fit, pill-free individuals over the course of six months, 10 programs and a simple regime of diet and exercise, will go into production early next year. HotPot Media has also acquired Doceye’s The Extreme Pop-Up Challenge and Big Mountain Production’s Craft Master. The former is a fast-paced cooking show in which a top chef has just 12 hours to build a restaurant, create a menu of local ingredients and serve dinner to 1.000 guests. Craft Master, meanwhile, heads to Poland from Ireland, where it has had two successful seasons on public broadcaster RTE One. The six-part series sees 15 talented craft apprentices — from millionaires and furniture-makers to jewelers and basket weavers — compete for the title of Craft Master. A fourth deal has been signed with branded entertainment and TV sponsorship company Blue Angels for Emmy Award-winning Dutch format The Phone, from the recently acquired Absolutely Independent catalog. The Park Lane format, which has already been sold to 15 territories including the US, South Korea, India and Australia, starts with two phone calls — and ends with two strangers locked in an exhilarating race to win €25.000.
