Kino Polska TV will develop ZoomTV
 13 Nov 2015
Poland’s National Broadcasting Council has adopted a resolution to grant a concession for a national terrestrial local news oriented channel to Cable Television Network & Partners, which will develop ZoomTV television channel as a joint project of the PIKSEL Foundation and Kino Polska TV S.A., with Grupa Onet.pl S.A. as a content-providing partner. ZoomTV will be broadcast on the eighth multiplex (MUX-8) of Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) in Poland.

The share capital of Cable Television Networks & Partners Sp. z o.o. (CTNP) will be increased, enabling Kino Polska TV S.A. to take up shares representing 49% of the company for PLN 10 mln, if the National Broadcasting Council’s decision becomes final. Partners behind this enterprise emphasize that the new ZoomTV channel will collaborate closely on the programming and content with local broadcasters and with Onet.pl web portal.

ZoomTV will broadcast news and other programing concerning local and regional issues as well as local self-government and NGO topics. The channel will promote grassroots initiatives and will be producing programs educating viewers on self-government, community development, and citizen participation.

Currently, the sole shareholder in Cable Television Networks & Partners Sp. z o.o. (CTNP) is the PIKSEL Foundation established by PIKE, the Polish Chamber for Electronic Communication. PIKE collaborates on a regular basis with local television broadcasters who are immersed in their local communities and cooperate with local governments. PIKE’s contribution to the channel will pertain to delivering local news and policy content. Kino Polska TV S.A. will be responsible for broadcasting, production, and for delivering other types of programming.

ZoomTV will receive support from Grupa Onet.pl S.A. The new channel will air video coverage provided by the editorial team at Onet.pl in addition to other news and entertainment content produced by the portal’s journalists and reporters.
