Sovtelexport is ready for #MIPTV
 30 Mar 2016
Sovtelexport, the distribution arm of the Russia Television and Radio, will present its new content catalog during MIPTV next week. In anticipation of the market, the director of the company Yulia Matyash highlighted some of the projects which will be in the focus of the market.

“There are no less than 20 new projects in our catalogue – and these are the best examples of different categories and genres: documentaries and feature films, series, and TV shows. Actually, this is our advantage — usually catalogues of content are focused on a particular genre or format.”

The documentary with the international title World Order will offer an analysis of the current geopolitical situation, based on an interview of Russian journalist, Vladimir Solovyov, with President Vladimir Putin. The film is similar to Crimea. The Way Home and The President which have travelled internationally. The Danish public television and the Italian Mediaset acquired The President and Canadian TV showed the Liberation of Crimea. Documentaries comprise about 60% of the international content catalogue of Russia Television and Radio, according to Matyash.

The series slate is topped by Russian Beauty - a romantic drama, which consists of 12 episodes, each 44 minutes. It tells the story of a Russian fashion model. The highlight of the project is the reconstruction of world fashion of 1960’s. Expedition 4K & 6K is a new project, which includes short videos and many hours of footage from shooting the most scenic and remote landscapes of Russia. The expedition to remote areas of the country was specifically organized and lasted six months.

Matyash concluded that the international market demand for Russian content is growing: “In particular, we have genre and technological trends. Demand for large-scale period adaptations of Russian classics, authentic documentaries about Russian culture, films about the famous people and Russian nature. Until recently films about the Great Patriotic war were popular, and most recently in connection with the changes, the market has shown demand for projects in the genre of current affairs, in the geopolitical situation, which is relevant content about current socio-political events.”
