TVF International announces deals across Russia and CIS
Digital TV (Tsifrovoe Televidenie) has bought a package including the Channel 5-commissioned docu-drama Inside Buckingham Palace, David Attenborough narrated Wild City: Singapore, BBC-RTE co-production Columbanus: The Monk Who United Europe and the investigative health documentary The Science of Sleep, from In Field Fly productions for CBC, which has just been nominated for a Jackson Hole WILD Science Media Award. The Moscow-based broadcaster also picked up the Smithsonian-Channel 4 joint commission China’s Forgotten Emperor, the first documentary to investigate the truth behind the myths surrounding China’s only female Emperor.
Elsewhere, Stream TV picked up Rescue Vet, Animal Planet’s latest pet series following veterinary clinics fighting to save the lives of adorable animals. Stream also snapped up pubcaster CBC commissioned The Truth About Vitamins and ichannel’s Brain Damage: The Truth About Trauma, a groundbreaking documentary looking at the societal and legal obstacles brain trauma victims face on their road to recovery. Meanwhile in St. Petersburg, Perviy HDTV picked the three-part series The Mystery of Matter, commissioned by PBS which uses high-end reconstructions and dramatic re-enactments to tell the stories of history’s greatest scientific discoveries. Finally, Travel + Adventure Channel bought a lifestyle package including CICC’s Secret China, TVNZ’s Across the Pacific with Te Radar and Luxe Asia and City Time Traveller, both commissioned by Channel NewsAsia. Lindsey Ayotte, Sales Executive for Central and Eastern Europe at TVF International, commented “Business to the CEE region has gone from strength to strength and the appetite for quality factual content is only growing.
