The Polish Chamber for Electronic Communication has sent an open letter to the chairman of the Cabinet’s Standing Committee regarding the new law on receiver license fees. PIKE president Jerzy Strazewski writes in the letter that until the European Commission has revealed its findings on the draft law, no further action should be undertaken.

Just like other pay-TV organizations and operators, PIKE stands again the requirement in in the legislation for operators to provide information on their customers to Polish Post to assist the latter in the collection of receiver license fees. Poles also oppose the changes, as based on a recent Kantar Millward Brown survey.

PIKE (Polish Chamber for Electronic Communication) gathers about 110 companies - broadband electronic communications operators and the manufacturers and distributors of the equipment and service used by these operators. Therefore it is the largest and oldest organization in this sector. Its members reach 4,5 million subscribers all over Poland, thus representing 75% of the Polish cable television market. The task of PIKE is to ensure proper legal conditions for the development of the sector and market.
