Viasat World signs deal with A+E Networks to acquire rights to upcoming series Knightfall
Viasat World announced that in line with its strategy of securing the very best content it has exclusively acquired the Pay TV, Basic TV, and SVOD rights to the much-anticipated television series, Knightfall, from A+E Networks for Russia and CIS.
From A+E Studios in association with Jeremy Renner’s The Combine, Island Pictures and Midnight Radio, Knightfall takes viewers inside the medieval politics and warfare of the Knights Templar, the most powerful, wealthy and mysterious military order of the Middle Ages who were entrusted with protecting Christianity’s most precious relics. The ten-hour series will debut on 7 December on Viasat World’s ViP Premiere channel and ViPPlay service and will be broadcast within one day following the HISTORY U.S. premiere on 6 December. The deal with A+E also comprises rights to a number of other factual and drama television series and television movies, as follows: Television movies acquired for Russia, CIS & the Baltics: The Flight Before Christmas, 2015; Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever, 2014; Wishin' And Hopin', 2014; Big Driver, 2014; Sister Cities, 2016; Stockholm, Pennsylvania, 2015. Factual series acquired for Russia, CIS, and CEE: Engineering Disasters S1, 8 x 60’; Shipping Wars UK S2, 40 x 30’. The Hunt, 8 x 60’, was acquired for The Nordics. Drama series acquired for Russia & CIS: And Then There Were None, 4 x 60’; Witness for the Prosecution, 3x60’. RELATED
