Al Jazeera Balkans organizes first Documentary Film Festival for local authors and producers
Al Jazeera Balkans has announced a new tender for authors and production companies, who are willing to take part in its first Documentary Film Festival - AJB DOC - which is to be held in Sarajevo from September 21 - 25, 2018. As a result of the long-term experience accumulated by the television in the production, acquisition and broadcasting of documentaries, AJB DOC aims to affirm authors and films dealing with social phenomena with special emphasis on the universal human values and movies intended for television broadcasting.
Of all the submitted applications for the official tender will be selected 15 documentaries, while 5 non-competitive 'Last Minute Cinema' films will feature 5 films that have had a remarkable success at already affirmed regional and European festivals. The first application deadline is May 10, 2018 and the second will end on May 30, 2018. All details regarding the applications and requirements are available online at www.ajbdoc.ba. One of the main criteria is the TV documentary format with a minimum duration of 22 - 27 minutes and a maximum of 44 - 52 minutes. Productions and authors may apply without any restrictions on the country of origin. AJB DOC's official selection will be presented in August. At the first round AJB DOC will give 3 awards. The international jury of 5 members will select the best film of the festival and award the Main Award and all competing movies will run for the Jury Program award. All movies shown at the Festival will be eligible for the Award of the Audience. They will be shown as part of AJB DOC's program and will also be considered for signing acquisition agreements and the right to be broadcast in the Al Jazeera Balkans' program. Within the framework of AJB DOC and in cooperation with the Al Jazeera Media Institute will be organized a multi-day training for young authors, representatives of independent production companies and students from the region, which will be led by experienced lecturers and film workers. The purpose of the training process will be to improve the participants' networking skills and encourage cooperation on projects that may be of interest to Al Jazeera Media Network as well as other TV broadcasters.
