Kew Media Distribution delivers new CEE deals ahead of #NATPEBudapest International

Kew Media Distribution, part of Kew Media Group, has signed numerous deals across Central and Eastern Europe it announced today, as it prepares to showcase a wealth of new content to buyers attending NATPE Budapest International this week.
 
In a pan CEE deal, leading international media company, Viasat World, has secured Pay TV rights to 21 hours of the detective drama set in the 1920s, Frankie Drake Mysteries, a CBC original series, produced by Shaftesbury in association with CBC and UKTV, including the brand new second season. Seasons one and two of World Productions’ acclaimed code-breaking thriller The Bletchley Circle (7 x one hour) also head to Viasat World, starring Anna Maxwell Martin, Rachael Stirling, Sophie Rundle and Julie Graham. Both series will air this year on Epic Drama, Viasat World’s new period drama pay-TV channel and SVOD proposition available across the region.
 
Viasat World has also selected 100 Days to Victory, a new documentary produced by Electric Pictures and Bristow Global Media Inc. which delivers a gripping account of the last 100 days of the First World War. Featuring cinematic recreations, interviews with top historians and state-of-the-art CGI, this two-part special will air later this year on Viasat History.
 
Further deals in CEE include the acquisition of the thrilling and eerie new mystery series Bellevue (8 x one hour, Muse Entertainment and Back Alley Films) by NC+ in Poland, HRT Croatia’s pick up of season one of Frankie Drake Mysteries, and TVP Poland’s acquisition of new documentary special Harry & Meghan: A Very Modern Romance from Odyssey Television.
 
Rounding out the CEE sales activity is a deal with Turkey’s Digiturk for Rolling Stone Magazine: Stories from the Edge, the six-part inside look at the iconic magazine (A Jigsaw Production; in production with Nevision Limited in association with Rolling Stone Productions). Digiturk has also picked up a package of six drama and comedy movies including Hector and the Search for Happiness starring Simon Pegg, Rosamund Pike, Christopher Plummer, Jean Reno, Stellan Skarsgård and Toni Collette; and Wreckers starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy.
  
Kew Media Distribution will debut a raft of new titles at NATPE Budapest International, including the new second season of Frankie Drake Mysteries. A compelling female-led detective drama set in 1920s Toronto, the second season of Frankie Drake Mysteries continues to follow Frankie Drake (Lauren Lee Smith) and her partner Trudy Clarke (Chantel Riley), the city’s only female private detectives as they take on the cases the police don’t want to touch. In a time of change and hopefulness, their gender is their biggest advantage as they defy expectations and rebel against convention – but is this new world ready for them?
 
As part of its ongoing representation deal with the Television Academy, Kew Media Distribution will showcase rights to the glittering 70th Emmy® Awards. In recognition of excellence and outstanding contribution to the television industry, the Emmy Awards bestow the US television industry’s highest honours for national primetime and late-night programming. One of the year’s most prestigious live television events, the spectacular Emmy Awards offers a star-studded evening of glamour and talent that attracts millions of viewers around the globe.
 
Kew Media Distribution will also highlight brand new true crime series In Plain Sight (52 x half hour) at NATPE Budapest International, distributed via its recent deal with producer Frantic Films. A riveting whodunit documentary series, In Plain Sight reveals disturbing real-life cases of murder where the culprit featured on TV news reports, was interviewed by the media, posted in social media or newspaper reports, or otherwise brazenly showed their face while all the time they had blood on their hands.
