Two years later, Sreda and Amedia still working on Russian remake of Sirens
 02 Apr 2019
It was back in spring 2017 that Russian production companies Sreda and Amedia Production announced the start of shooting for the local remake of Israeli series Sirens (aka Mermaids), distributed by ADD Content Agency. Today, the parties informed the press once again that the adaptation is coming and will air on Perviy (Channel One Russia).

Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, founder and head of international at ADD Content commented: “We have a strong creative partnership on this show with Amedia Production, Sreda and Channel One and are really looking forward to seeing the Russian version of this hit Israeli series – it’s great to see another great HOT show travelling beyond the domestic market.”

Sirens (Betoolot) was originally created by Shahar Magen and Adam Sanderson and produced by July August for HOT Israel. The original series will be back for a third season later this year.

As CEETV reported two years ago, in the Russian version, the action starts with the appearance of a woman’s body next to a lighthouse in the South of the country. Her identity is established – she is the twin sister of the main heroine of the series – investigator Rita Tikhonova. She disappeared 17 years ago. Investigation begins, and Rita faces strange situations and starts understanding that people around her keep strange secrets, and friends and family are not who they claim to be.
