NATPE and CEETV announce winner of PITCH & PLAY LIVE! 2020
NATPE and CEETV are delighted to announce that the winning format of the fifth edition of PITCH & PLAY LIVE!, as voted for by an expert jury during NATPE Virtual Budapest, is Russia’s CHILDREN VS. ADULTS. CHILDREN VS. ADULTS is a family show in which two generations compete with each other. One team consists of children from 10 to 16 years old and the other team consists of their parents or other close relative of 50 or more years old. In each competition adults answer to tricky questions about the twenty first century and children answer to questions about the last century. Also, the participants guess stars, songs, movies and things from the time which is unfamiliar to them. A team that has the highest score will go to an unusual quest room. To get the main prize the participants will have to complete all trials in a limited time. The winning format owner receives complimentary registration and accommodation for NATPE Miami Marketplace + Conference 2021, as well as a series of development meetings with leading distributors in attendance. The winning format was selected among three finalists, which included CHILDREN VS. ADULTS (CTC, Russia); reality show FASHION DESIGNERS (Kanal 2, Estonia) and entertainment format MADE IN QUARANTINE (RTL Klub, Hungary). Following live presentations by the creators of all three shortlisted formats during the PITCH & PLAY LIVE! session, CHILDREN VS. ADULTS was chosen as the winner by an expert jury consisting of Daiva Andrade Gonzalez, Senior Content Acquisitions Manager, TV3 Group, Izzet Pinto, Founder and CEO, Global Agency, and Taliah Shahar, Head of International Sales, Acquisitions and Partnerships, United Studios of Israel. This year PITCH & PLAY LIVE!'s top three formats were shortlisted from a selection of ten brand-new original formats from CEE and EMEA. Each of the ten formats was evaluated based on three criteria: originality (how original is the idea for the format); universality (does the format idea show flexibility for changes and development) and internationality (does the format have the potential to be sold internationally). A selection committee, comprising industry professionals reviewed each format and voted in all three criteria with scores from 1 to 5. The final ranking was determined from the accumulated sum of all scores of the five selection committee members.
