ZDF Enterprises confirms package deal with TVP ABC for children’s content
ZDF Enterprises has sold exclusive FTA TV rights for six children’s titles to TVP ABC, a channel of Poland’s public broadcaster TVP, including major brands Lexi and Lottie and The Adventures of the Young Marco Polo.
The volume deal, with more than 170 episodes being delivered in Polish, follows hot on the heels of ZDF Enterprises’ other, recently announced, children’s sales to Latin America, Asia and Iberia. Peter Lang, Vice President ZDFE.junior, ZDF Enterprises, said: "Our strategy was to build one of the most extensive children’s catalogues for the international market. We achieved that ambition with 20,000 episodes now available in 25 different languages, enabling us to serve customers in every corner of the globe. From Russian and Spanish to Mandarin and Arabic, a vast range of our top children’s titles are localised and ready for broadcast." Young Polish audiences will be able to enjoy entertaining animated series such as Lexi and Lottie (26 x 24’), Inui (52 x 7’), Four and a Half Friends (26 x 26’) and The Adventures of the Young Marco Polo (26 x 25’). Live action titles included in the package are The Bureau of Magical Things (S2, 20 x 25’), which follows the adventures of Kyra and her magical powers and Find Me in Paris (52 x 26') about a Russian Princess, from a bygone era, who is studying at the Paris Opera Ballet School and accidentally time travels to present day. The channel ABC Domowe Przedszkole was launched in HbbTV technology during the lockdown. “The results gained while creating this channel will be used by us to create a programming offer also for the youngest Polish diaspora,” TVP commented for Wirtualnemedia.pl portal about the possibility of launching TVP ABC in the USA. Poles living in the United States have access to TVP Info's programming offer. This channel is provided by the operator DISH Network and the OTT Sling TV service. The TVP Info channel is also to be available in North and South America via the websites of Telewizja Polska: tvp.info, stream.tvp.pl and through applications for smartphones and tablets. This is the first TVP channel that was introduced to distribution in the US after TVP Polonia stopped broadcasting in that country. The agreement for satellite distribution throughout the USA was signed for a period of six months. It will also be available through Sling TV packages. “We are also planning to further expand the programming offer and expand the distribution of TVP's offer abroad,” announced Marcin Klepacki, director of the distribution office of Telewizja Polska in July. “We already offer channels such as TVP Polonia, TVP Wilno, PolandIN. TVP Info is available via free-to-air satellite access to viewers in Europe and on the Internet around the world. It is also worth mentioning the presence of TVP Polonia and TVP Info in the offers of cable operators in Europe, and TVP Info in the USA in the satellite offer of Dish Network and IPTV Sling TV,” TVP commented. On the question of TVP ABC in America: “TVP produces and has a large resource of programs with rights allowing for a wide distribution of the offer for children. Therefore, it is natural to take actions aimed at reaching the largest group of recipients, including the youngest ones abroad. The TVP offer responds directly to the great demand for content that is valuable and safe for young viewers, distinguishing Telewizja Polska from its competitors, including those with global reach.” RELATED
