Film.UA announces international film deals
In the run-up to one of the world’s biggest film markets – American Film Market, which is going to happen online on November 9-13, Film.UA Distribution recaps the most important deals of the past several months.
The rights in the historical action film The Rising Hawk were sold to the Benelux states, where it will be distributed by Premiere TV Distribution. Also, recently, the film premiered in the USA and Canada (distributed by Shout Factory), where it acquired an expanded title – The Rising Hawk: Battle for the Carpathians. Due to the lockdown, release happened online on the top VOD-services and online cinemas, like iTunes, GooglePlay, Vudu, and Amazon. Ukrainian release happened in October 2019, and the premieres in many other countries are yet ahead, as an active sale for the rights in the film keeps going on. For instance, earlier, the rights in The Rising Hawk were sold to the UK and Ireland (Signature), Australia and New Zealand (Eagle), Spain (Flins & Piniculas), Germany and germanophone Europe (Capelight Pictures), Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia (Volga). War drama U311 will launch in Germany, distributed by More Films. In Japan, the rights in the family adventure fantasy film Foxter and Max were acquired by AK Company. And the sports drama Pulse based on real events will appear in France, courtesy of the distributor Trade Media. “Autumn is usually a very active season for the film industry, and this one was no exception, – notes Evgeniy Drachov, International Sales Manager at FILM.UA Distribution. – We made several deals we can be proud of. For instance, the international distribution of the historical action film The Rising Hawk goes on. We have acquired a trove of excited feedback from the US viewers, and now we can’t wait to present it to other audiences. U311, a candid film on a very thorny topic of recent Ukrainian events, is going to Germany. Our ability to remand the world about these events is priceless. Now, we are preparing for the virtual film market AFM and aim to widen the geography of our films once again.” The CEO of Film.UA Distribution Igor Storchak adds: “This summer we were weary that the migration of all industry events online, would transform and hamper the work of the international film industry. However, we are noticing that the demand for new interesting stories and projects has only grown, much to our delight.” RELATED
