Arena Sport will air the Polish Ekstraklasa in the Balkans
Ekstraklasa, the Polish top tier football league, has signed a new contract for broadcasting matches in the Balkan territories. Next to Planet Sport, Arena Sport has become the second broadcaster in the region. Arena Sport operates six sports channels in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, North Macedonia, and Kosovo. Arena Sport will broadcast the spring round matches of PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa in each of them. Planet Sport will continue to transmit matches of the Polish league in Croatia.
“There are about 40 players from the Balkan countries in the teams of PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa and Balkan fans keep following their and their Polish clubs’ results. It’s one of the reasons we want to show the matches in on TV. For the spring round we have started working with a broadcasting partner with a strong presence in the region and with an offer including the European football at its best. Also the top tier football league of Poland will now be joining the schedule of this broadcaster. Arena Sport is widespread in all of its territories, which means that Ekstraklasa will have a guarantee of reaching the widest possible audience. At the same time, Planet Sport remains our exclusive partner in Croatia,” said Marcin Animucki, President of the Management Board of Ekstraklasa S.A. The current broadcasting contracts in the region expire at the end of the 2020/21 season and Ekstraklasa is already working on the agreement regarding the cooperation in the forthcoming years. PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa is aired by media partners in 17 countries. Apart from the Balkans, the most recent contracts include an agreement with Mola.TV, a partner in Indonesia and East Timor. In addition, the league has extended contracts for broadcasts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with Sportdigital TV and Onefootball until the 2024/25 season. In England and Northern Ireland, PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa matches are broadcast by Premium Sport and FreeSport, in Portugal – by Channel 11, in Russia – by Match.TV, and the fans in Israel may watch the matches on Charlton’s sports channels. At the same time, in countries where there are no exclusive broadcast partners, the matches and match highlights are available through the league's own OTT video-streaming service – Ekstraklasa.TV.
