RSF against plans for new TVR management structure
Reporters Sans Frontieres (RSF, Reporters Without Borders) disapproves Government's intention to increase the number of leadership positions at Radio Romania and public television designated by Parliament, according news.ro .
In two messages published on Twitter on Tuesday, RSF states: “The governing coalition intends to extend the political control over the public media Radio Romania and TVR, by increasing the number of management positions designated through a parliamentary procedure. Such an initiative raises concerns about the independence of public media in Romania. RSF strongly disapproves and asks political leaders Ludovic Orban, Florin Cîţu, Kelemen Humor, Dan Barna and Dacian Cioloş to depoliticize public media management." On March 17, PNL leader Ludovic Orban said it was possible that in the future, the positions of general manager and chairman of the Board of Directors of TVR and the Romanian Broadcasting Company (SRR) would be separated.
