Opponents of the Lukashenko regime claim that state television in Belarus not only distributes content with torture, but is, in fact, its main customer.

Pavlo Latushko, the head of the People's Anti-Crisis Department of Belarus, asked the European Broadcasting Union to study the materials that testify to Belteleradiocompany's involvement in the torture of protesters. Latushko published the corresponding appeal and the answer of the union in Telegram.

As an example of such participation, Latushko cites a video in which a man with traces of beatings against a red-green flag repents for speaking out against the regime of Alexander Lukashenko. This video with political prisoner Mykola Didko was recorded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and broadcast on Belarusian state TV.

An opposition statement said that distributing violently confessed content on camera violated ethical standards.

"We have reason to believe that the state television of Belarus not only distributes inappropriate content, but also, in fact, is its main customer. Lukashenko uses his media resources to intimidate the population... How appropriate is membership in the EBU of a company involved in terror against civilians? How appropriate is membership in the EBU of a company that broadcasts in primetime torture, accompanied by their ironic comments? Here are the main questions we want answered," Latushko said in the letter.

EBU studied the submitted video and demanded answers from Belteleradiocompany. At the same time, the organization noted that it continues to collect and confirm facts about the situation in Belarus through the OSCE and the Council of Europe, as well as through European and international federations of journalists.
