Champions League returns to Sport1 and Sport2
UEFA and AMC Networks International - Central and Northern Europe (AMCNI CNE) have reached an agreement to broadcast the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA European Conference League on Sport1 and Sport2 stations in Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. These competitions will be broadcast from September. Both stations will broadcast live UEFA club matches from the group and knockout stages.
Until 2024, the public Slovak broadcaster RTVS also has broadcasting rights to the European League and the new European Conference League, which also broadcasts European League matches in the current season. The Champions League will return to the two channels for the first time since 2018, while in order to acquire the rights to Serie A Sport TV has relinquished those to Germany’s Bundesliga. Commenting on the two deals, Pál Máté, Sport TV’s program director, said: “It’s an endless joy that the top series in football, the Champions League, which puts all the football lovers in the world in front of the TVs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, is now coming back to us. We are also very proud that after a missed 12 years, the most passionate league, Serie A, will also return to our channels. “We hope that the Italian league will nail even more spectators than the Bundesliga, if only because Serie A is one of the most exciting top leagues in Europe in the current state of power.” Sport TV has also secured the rights to several other competitions including an extension to the NBA.
