Viasat World renews deal with Digi in Hungary and Romania
 18 Jun 2021
Leading international media company Viasat World announced that it has signed a renewal deal with Digi Group for its comprehensive portfolio of factual and entertainment channels to air on Digi TV’s digital cable, satellite and Digi Online platforms, in Hungary and Romania, and on IPTV, in Hungary.

5.8 million subscribers in the two markets will continue to enjoy factual channels Viasat Nature, Viasat History and Viasat Explore; period drama channel Epic Drama; plus, in Romania movie channel TV1000. Digi is a long-standing partner of Viasat World and was one of the first operators to launch Epic Drama in Hungary early 2018. In Romania, Viasat Explore was the first Viasat channel being added to Digi TV’s offer in 2004.

Benjamin Groocock, SVP Commercial and Operations at Viasat World, commented: “Having built a loyal audience for our channels through Digi TV in Hungary and Romania, this is an important renewal for us with one of our most long-standing operator partners in the CEE region. With a significant number of subscriptions in each country, this deal allows us to consolidate reach, providing many viewers with premium quality, often exclusive content curated across our portfolio of popular channels. We’re sure that the forthcoming programming line-up will see them return to watch time and again.”

"For DIGI, providing a quality service to our subscribers means equal investment in technology and content, as we look to satisfy diverse preferences from news and sports, to entertainment, film and documentaries. Our concern for the customer's needs translates, today, into the market position held by DIGI - leader of the cable TV market in Romania and the second operator in the pay TV segment in Hungary. We are happy to announce the extension of the agreement to broadcast Viasat World’s channels in both markets, continuing with our mission of reaching subscribers' homes with the programs they appreciate," said Serghei Bulgac, CEO of DIGI Communications N.V.
