A1 and Eleven Sports renew key football rights deals
A1 Bulgaria has bought the rights to Lega Serie A for another 3 years. Serie A is broadcast on MAX Sport in the last three seasons and has established itself as one of the most watched football championships not only in Bulgaria but in Europe. This is determined by the fact that the Calcio finds a place among the top 3 of the strongest championships in Europe, according to the UEFA rankings. A1 said it will continue to broadcast all 10 games per round or up to 380 matches in the course of each of the next 3 seasons.
Also, Eleven Sports has renewed an agreement in Poland for exclusive rights to the English FA Cup club football competition until the end of the 2023-24 season. The deal also includes the Community Shield, the annual match played between the defending Premier League and FA Cup champions. Eleven has broadcast the FA Cup in Poland since it launched in the country in 2015. Krzysztof Świergiel, MD of Eleven Poland, said: “The Emirates FA Cup is one of the most iconic competitions in football and it’s a key part of our rights portfolio in Poland. The fact that Polish players like Lukasz Fabianski, Jan Bednarek and Mateusz Klich are set to feature in the competition again this season makes it an even more attractive proposition for our audience.” Eleven’s football rights offering in Poland also includes the EFL Cup, the second-tier English Championship, Italy’s Serie A, Spain’s LaLiga, France’s Ligue 1 and Portugal’s Primeira Liga. Eleven agreed a new rights deal for LaLiga in January. The deal grants Eleven all rights in Poland from the 2021-22 season, with the broadcaster to sublicense half of the matches to pay-television broadcaster Canal+. RELATED
