You read it first! Banijay confirms Russian Fear Factor
Yesterday, Banijay officially confirmed the return of Fear Factor in Russia. This is a three-month old news for our readers, as CEETV reported first back in May that NTV Russia is reviving the show.
Hosted by singer Anatoliy Tsoy, the new series in Russia will air later this year, and sees pairs of celebrities working through a series of intense challenges that put their primal fears to the ultimate test. From walking on a machine boom over a quarry, to burying themselves in a rat infested grave, this reality game show sees six celebrity contestants pushed to their limits both physically and mentally. If they manage to complete each task, they advance but if they fail the mission, they are immediately eliminated. Only one that triumphs at the final post will be able to win the cash prize for their chosen charity. Filming for the 8x48 series will take place in Tula, known in Russia as the ‘hero-city’, and thus the perfect location for celebrities to face their fears. Timur Weinstein, General Producer of NTV Broadcasting Company, said: “We have extensive experience in adapting international formats and now it’s the time for cult classic Fear Factor to broadcast on our channel once again. More than 15 years has passed since the original series aired on NTV, and we are excited that our viewers will experience the show and the new surprises we have in store.” Yulia Sumacheva, Managing Director of WeiT Media, added: “Fear Factor is one of the most talked about shows on Russian television, and it’s great to be bringing this exciting format to the next-generation of viewers. Filmed in a brilliant location, this reboot features a fantastic line up of Russian celebrities as they tackle their fears head-on in new challenges which are bigger and better than ever before.” RELATED
