START sells Container to Apple TV+
Russian streamer START has sold its first original production for streaming on Apple TV+, Variety reported yesterday. The US media calls the partnership a co-production, even though Container has already been produced and had its premiere in Russia in September becoming the most successful debut on the platform ever in its opening weekends.
Apple TV+ will premiere the series in 2022. As CEETV reported earlier, Container stars Oxana Akinshina. According to the plot, contrary to common practice, the surrogate mother Sasha moves to the house of her customers and finds herself in a completely alien world - the mansion of a wealthy official Vadim and his wife Marina. Sasha is a "container" for them, a new toy. However, what at first seemed like caring for the unborn child soon turns into a test for each of the characters. The project previously took part in MIPDrama 2021, and in July, Container was shown at the Série Series festival in Fontainebleau, France, which brings together the best European series that have recently premiered or are still in production. The eight-episode drama was written by Alexey Lyapichev, Vadim Sveshnikov, and Nikolay Muratov, directed by Maxim Sveshnikov, and features Oxana Akinshina, Artyom Bystrov, Filipp Yankovsky, Maria fomina, Yulia Aug, and others.
