Belarus 24 banned in Estonia and Lithuania, RT launches in Belarus
 28 Feb 2022
The Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (TTJA) has banned the broadcasting of some TV channels in Russian in Estonia due to the transmission of prohibited information by these channels (including inciting war and spreading misinformation).

Therefore, all TV service providers in Estonia should stop broadcasting the following TV channels as soon as possible: RTR Planeta, NTV Mir (also NTV Mir Baltika), Belarus 24, Rossiya 24 and TV Center International (TVCI).

The TTJA order must be complied with within a year.

The Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) on Friday banned the retransmission of six Russian-language TV channels in the country due to inciting war and propaganda.

As vice-chairman of the commission Richardas Slapšys informed, at the suggestion of the LRTK administration, which carried out the monitoring, a decision was made to ban the rebroadcasting of the channels Belarus 24, NTV Mir, RTR Planeta, Rossiya 24, First Baltic Channel (PBK), TVCI. The decision came into force on Friday.

"A decision was made to temporarily stop the activities of six TV channels broadcast in Russian, the suspension of their activities is somewhat different in duration: the retransmission of RTR Planeta, Rossiya 24, Belarus 24 and NTV Mir is suspended for five years; PBC and TVCI - for three years,” Slapšys said.

In other news, propaganda state Russian TV channel Russia Today will soon start broadcasting in Belarus. RT journalist Konstantin Prydybailo mentioned this during a press conference with Lukashenko at the polling station for the referendum.

He inserted a remark during a question from an employee of the Belteleradiocompany about the ban on broadcasting Belarus 24 in the EU countries. Prydybailo mentioned that RT would broadcast in Belarus.
