More than 20 international operators have shut down Russia’s news channels
More than 20 international operators have shut down Russian news channels, 1+1 Media reports.
On February 26, Ukraine's leading media groups initiated the shutdown of Russian news channels in the international market by sending an open letter to key television and OTT providers. More than 20 local operators from Poland, Australia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Canada, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Germany, as well as representatives of international corporations responded to the request. After the appeal, they began to turn off propaganda channels on satellite, cable networks, OTT platforms and other resources. Instead, many providers have launched a marathon of "United News" on Ukrainian frequencies, which informs about the war and aggression of the Russian Federation. "In these few days, we have received an amazing response from the international audience. Operators are ready to meet us, they understand the importance of such actions and fully support us. As of today, more than 20 companies with a huge audience have refused to broadcast Russian TV channels. We are still in talks with many and are confident that the result will be positive. The war is being waged on several fronts and we are ready to inflict irreparable losses on the information front, ” 1+1 Media commented. RELATED
