LITHUANIA
All LRT platforms inform about the war in both Russian and Ukrainian
Since the onset of the war in Ukraine, people seeking news have been 'poisoned' with lies and unverified or deliberately distorted interpretations of the current developments, which has led to the outbreak of an information war resulting in a significant increase in the number of unreliable sources.
Nevertheless, the Lithuanian Radio Television (LRT) has made sure that the Russian-speaking audience in Lithuania is getting reliable information about the recent events in Ukraine and the assessment of the Russian operations around the world. 'The ongoing information war has no boundaries, no limits. The information is impactful, especially now that people are intensely following the events, looking for reliable news or answers to what awaits them in a matter of hours, days or weeks. We're looking for opportunities for LRT to broadcast as much information as possible, even to those who don't follow the news in Lithuanian because propaganda messages are targeted namely at them,' said Gytis Oganauskas, Deputy GM of LRT. LRT.lt provides live the news in Russian courtesy of Radio Free Europe as well as the Ukrainian-language program of the Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne. Every evening, LRT PLUS broadcasts the news of German channel Deutche Welle in Russian and the analytical news program Current Time TV (Nastojaščeje Vremia) while more detailed daily information is provided by the late-night newscasts. DW's news in Russian is also available on the LRT.lt portal. In its daily news in Russian, LRT Radio provides the latest news from Ukraine and support campaigns in Lithuania as well as the most important news from the world. This week, the news will be broadcast from a temporary studio set up at the Russian Embassy in Vilnius, where a civil campaign co-organized by Laisvės TV and LRT Radio will take place. The LRT news in Russian is broadcast live at 16.05. The portal LRT NOVOSTI promptly updates its information flow. Accurate and verified news reports on the events in Ukraine are connected by the KarasUkraina (Voina v Ukraine) along with interviews with well-known cultural experts and reports on various support initiatives in Lithuania.
