LRTK bans two more Russian channels, recommends Ukrainian ones
At an extraordinary session held this Monday, the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) adopted a decision to suspend two more propaganda channels broadcasting in the Russian language - MIR24 and RBK TV - for spreading war propaganda and incitement to war, Vz.lt reports.
LRTK has already suspended the re-transmission of the channels Planeta RTR, Rossiya 24, NTV Mir and Belarus 24 for 5 years due to gross violations of the international and national legislation, the distribution of information threatening national security, incitement to war and national hatred and PBK and TVCI - for a period of 3 years. The Commission has also recommended the re-transmission of more Ukrainian TV channels in Lithuania: 'Taking into account the needs of the Russian-speaking population of Lithuania to have a wider choice for viewing more diverse media content on TV channels in Russian, LRTK has recommended that telecom operators in Lithuania should include the following Ukrainian channels on their list: 1+1, 2+2, Channel Ukraina, ICTV, STB, Inter, Novy, TET, K1 and NTN as well as Russia's independent media Dozhd and the Czech Republic's Current Time TV', as they stated.
