Russia replaces Hollywood blockbusters with local film hits
The film distributor Central Partnership will revise the schedule of premieres of Russian films and release some earlier, when possible. Also, domestic movie hits Serf, Going Vertical, Batya and others will be released theatrically again, Vadim Vereshchagin, General Director of Central Partnership told Vedomosti.
“The goal is to support the Russian film distribution, to let it stay afloat,” Vereshchagin explained. According to him, the premiere of the comedy I Want to Get Married with Milos Bikovich and Kristina Asmus, produced with the support of the Ministry of Culture, was moved from March 5 to March 3. “Of course, we support the decision of distributors to shift the releases of Russian films to earlier dates,” said Svetlana Maksimchenko, head of the Department of Cinematography of the Ministry of Culture. The ministry also stressed that the release schedule for domestic films for March is changing "in real-time mode." Previously, the film companies Warner Bros., Disney and Sony suspended the distribution of their projects in Russia against the backdrop of the current international situation. So, in Russia, the premiere of the Disney cartoon Turning Red, scheduled for March 10, will not take place. Russians won't see Robert Pattinson's new Batman, which was scheduled to premiere on March 2 - Warner Bros. canceled the show the day before the premiere. The March 24 release of Morbius with Jared Leto has also been cancelled. RELATED
