Ukraine’s oldest kids channel shuts down
The first Ukrainian satellite channel for children has suspended its broadcasting due to the war with Russia. The niche broadcaster decided that all company costs will be transferred to help the Ukrainian army. Currently, content for children can be found on the PlusPlus, Pixel TV and NLO TV channels of the largest media groups in the country.
“The Maliatko TV channel is forced to suspend broadcasting due to Russia's war against Ukraine, our nation, its culture and language. All costs of the telecompany will be allocated to the assistance of the Ukrainian army. Glory to Ukraine!” – said the channel. The originator of the project for a younger audience in Ukraine was Volodymyr Kmetyk, who at the end of July 2009 decided to copy the successful experience of the Arab children's station SpaceToon from Dubai, combining entertainment, education and ethical values. Maliatko TV adapted French, Spanish, Belgian, Japanese, Italian, English, German and Chinese animated series to the needs of the Ukrainian audience. RELATED
