LRTK bans Mir TV and 57 websites
The Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) has decided to suspend the free re-transmission and / or distribution of Russian-language TV channel Mir for a period of 5 years after finding that it has clearly and seriously violated the Lithuanian Law on Public Information by spreading war propaganda and inciting war.
Since the onset of the war in Ukraine, the Commission has already suspended the re-transmission of 8 Kremlin propaganda TV channels in Lithuania - Planeta RTR, Rossija 24, NTV Mir, Belarus 24, PBK Lietuva, TVCi, MIR24 and RBK-TV. LRTK has also addressed YouTube with the request to remove the accounts of these channels from the platform, which has been done. After monitoring websites in the period between March 1 and 2, LRTK decided to block access to a total of 57 websites, which according to them, carried out the activities of illegaly distributing TV content over the Internet, which were not reported to the Commission in accordance with the legally-established procedure as well as spreading disinformation, war propaganda and incitement to war since among the distributed channels were Planeta RTR, Rossija 24 and others that were previously banned in Lithuania. LRTK has therefore made the decision to issue instructions to network service providers to block access to 57 websites including: smotrim.ru; ontvtime.ru; vip.ontivi.net; tv.tivix.co; chas.tv; sweet.tv; rustv.cc; tv.domatv.net; seelisten.ru; online-red.online; only-tv.org; tvizor.org; tvonline24.org; teledays.net; onlinetv.one; oneliketv.net and others. Network service providers must implement the Commission's decision no later than 5 days from the day of its adoption. Everyone trying to connect to the websites, access to which had been banned, will be re-directed to the LRTK website. RELATED
