Kazakh cinemas forced to shut down over Russian crisis
All Kinopark and Kinoplexx cinemas in Kazakhstan will be temporarily closed from April 1, the head of the cinema network Almaz Maldybaev informed.
“Unfortunately, the big Hollywood companies that work through Russia refuse to provide us with movies. We literally have nothing to show starting April 1. Therefore, Kinopark-Kinoplexx will be forced to close for an indefinite period from April, 1. I'm sorry, but that's the reality," Maldybaev said. The Hollywood companies that Almaz Maldybaev is referring to have started to cancel film distribution in Russia due to the situation around the war in Ukraine. The Walt Disney Company, Sony, Netflix, and Warner Bros. have announced the decision to suspend distribution. RELATED
