Ukrainian media groups launch Russian-language project FreeDom
Ukrainian media groups StarLightMedia, Inter, 1+1 and Media Group Ukraine have launched a joint Russian-language TV project FreeDom on the basis of the UATV channel. This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko.
According to him, the goal of the project is to "open the eyes of Russians", and it was initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky. The broadcast started on March 10 at 21.00 and will take place around the clock on the UATV channel on satellite, IPTV networks and YouTube. The first host of the broadcast was Volodymyr Poluyev, the host of Ukraine 24, who had previously worked for Nash TV. "Leading Ukrainian journalists and Russian journalists who have not found a place for normal honest work in their own country will take part in the project," Oleksandr Tkachenko said. The National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting also has received a request from the media regulators of Lithuania and Latvia for a Russian-language TV channel that will broadcast adequate information about the situation in Ukraine.
