RVR to facilitate launch of Ukrainian channels in Slovakia
As Ukrainian television and radio stations, as well as the operators who distribute their broadcasts, are currently in considerably more difficult working conditions, which limits the scope for disseminating current information on their events, the Slovak Broadcasting Council (RVR) supports steps to enable such broadcasts to be received outside of Ukraine. Council members see this approach as an expression of goodwill and belonging to the people of Ukraine.
In this context, the Council offers assistance to Slovak operators who decide to include Ukrainian channels in their program grid. This may concern not only the clarification of the legal framework for the operational extension of the program offer, but also the mediation of contact with the Ukrainian regulator, retransmission operators or directly Ukrainian broadcasters and the subsequent logistics preceding the actual addition of new stations to the grid. "The staff of RVR is ready to respond very flexibly to any questions and requests from operators. This is also because we consider the extension of the program offer to Ukrainian stations to be, among other things, a service for refugees from Ukraine, who can thus gain additional information and contact with the country in Slovakia," explained Ľuboš Kukliš, Director of the Council Office. "The Ukrainian television station Espresso TV approached the Council yesterday with a specific request for assistance in the inclusion of broadcasting in the Slovak cable and satellite networks, including the technical specification, and we will inform the associations of retransmission operators SAKT and APKT. We will keep the list of available Ukrainian stations continuously updated on the Council's website," added Martin Dorociak, Head of the Legal Department of the Council's Office. RELATED
