Paramount suspends activities in Russia, donates $1 million to Ukraine
The American film company Paramount plans to suspend its activities in Russia and make a donation of $1 million for humanitarian assistance to victims of the war in Ukraine.
It is reported that the studio will first suspend the supply of Paramount Global content. There is also talk of suspending the company's linear TV channels, production of new products and licensing, however, according to the head of Paramount Bob Bakish, this process "will take longer due to existing contractual, technical and partnership aspects." In an internal memo to employees, Mr. Bakish also wrote that the film studio will continue to provide support to all of its staff and freelancers in Russia, Ukraine and Poland. Earlier the company, along with other major Hollywood studios such as Warner Bros, Sony, Disney and Universal Pictures, suspended the premieres of their projects in Russia. Since then, some major media companies have already completely left the Russian market, including Disney, Sony Pictures, Discovery and others. The Russian office has not yet commented on Paramount's withdrawal from the Russian market. RELATED
