A third of Ukrainians have lost access to TV at home

On March 17, as CEETV reported, it was announced that the Industrial Television Committee was suspending the measurement of the television audience in Ukraine. However, data is available for past three weeks, from February 24 (the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine) and it provides grounds for important conclusions. In particular, how quantitatively the audience of Ukrainian television and the Internet has changed, as well as what type of TV signal reception is widespread in Ukraine and whether the relationship has changed since the beginning of the war, Detector Media reports.

For comparison, the websites take the similar period of 2021 and 2022 - from March 9 to 16. Alook at three indicators: what percentage of people turn on the television, how long the TV works in families, and how much time it takes to watch "other TV" - those channels that are not measured:

Thus, on March 16, 14% fewer families watched TV than on February 23. It can be assumed that 14% of families in Ukraine are currently not at home or do not have electricity. Another important indicator is the number of families who do not turn on the TV during the day. This is another indirect indicator of the absence of people at home or limited stay at home.

This figure increased by 19% from February 23 to March 16. In general, it turns out that about a third of Ukrainian families have lost the opportunity to watch television at home.
