Russian occupiers have destroyed broadcasting infrastructure worth over 600 bln UAH
The Russian troops that invaded Ukraine have damaged the state-owned Broadcasting, Radio and Television Concern's (KRRT) infrastructure, with estimates being more than 600 billion hryvnias (18.6 bln euros). This was stated in an interview with "Sigodnya" by the head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine Yuriy Shtihol.
"According to the estimates of the RRT Concern, during the month of the war, Russia caused damage of over UAH 600 billion. These are preliminary estimates, and a method of estimating the damage from the war will be adopted soon. Nevertheless, our RRT Concern is today the main technical provider of truthful information in the country," he said. According to Yuriy Shtihol, more than two dozen television substations of the RRT Concern came under Russian shelling and were completely or partially destroyed. "In total, for various reasons, 46 settlements are not able to receive terrestrial television and radio services (mostly Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk and Kherson regions). This is due to the destruction, and due to the lack of energy supply, due to the aggressor's attempts to organize his own broadcast or due to looting committed by Russian soldiers," added the head of the State Special Service. In addition, in eight settlements - Zorynivka, Markivka, Shiroky, Starobilsk, Belovodsk, Kherson, Vasylivka, Henichesk - the occupiers switched the equipment to broadcast Russian channels. RELATED
