Zelensky: Ukrainian media should increase international reach
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, after Western sanctions on Russian TV channels, audiences abroad will look for other Russian-language content - and this niche should be occupied by Ukrainian TV channels and bloggers to provide truthful information about the situation in Ukraine.
"After we stopped several Russian channels with sanctions (they are currently in the process of shutting down), which are spreading their signals on the European market when they close, this audience will look for Russian-language information. It is very important that this space is occupied by Ukrainian channels, bloggers, etc.," Zelensky said during a press conference. According to him, to convey truthful information to the people of Russia itself is one of the most difficult tasks today. "When we give signals in Russian or English, those people in Russia who are already facing a wall, I do not see that they have understanding. I believe that they can understand something on their own and will come to their own conclusions when people they trust talk to them. I do not see that the Russians trust the Ukrainian media and that they trust the President of Ukraine. I believe that there are tools on how to convey information to them. This is one of the most difficult robots we need to work on. I do not see a comprehensive solution to this issue yet," the president said. At the same time, he expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian channels Dom and UATV can be effective in convincing people who live in the war zone, but still "doubt what is happening." RELATED
