New media law will ban all Russian media in Ukraine
The media law will ban all TV channels and other media outlets originating from Russia. This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko, IMI reports.
According to him, the draft law includes a norm of co-regulation, wherein media workers can participate in the regulation of certain important issues together with the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting and the MCIP. "This law will put a lid on russian propaganda on Ukrainian territory. All TV channels and other media outlets originating from the aggressor state will be banned," Tkachenko wrote. He also reported that on July 20 he discussed the draft law's compliance with the European directives with the NCTRB, the office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, and the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy.
