BBC Studios announces Latvian DWTS deal
BBC Studios announced yesterday the signing of a deal with All Media Baltics for “the debut” in Latvia and return to screens in Estonia of Dancing with the Stars, as 13 and 8-episode seasons airing in fall 2022 on TV3. "The launch into Latvia marks the 61st territory to license the global TV phenomenon," BBC Studios said.
Actually, the dancing show debuted in Latvia back in 2010 with an unlicensed version. The fourth season of Dejo ar zvaigzni aired in 2015, and in its recent season presentation TV3 Latvia announced its return. Elīna Jēkabsone, Program Director of TV3 Group in Latvia, said: “Dancing with the Stars is a legendary show, it’s one of the most watched and beloved shows in the world and, of course, in Latvia as well. TV3 is the largest commercial channel in Latvia and Sunday shows are an integral part of our program. Every year we please our viewers with great, high-quality shows and Dancing with the Stars is definitely one of the top shiny-floor shows in the world. It's a show that makes everybody move not only on the dance floor, but also those sitting comfortably in front of the TV screens. Positive emotions, beautiful dances and dresses, competitive spirit, supporting your favorites and discussing the performances with colleagues the next morning - this is Dancing with the Stars. We are really happy that on the eve of the anniversary of our channel TV3, Dancing with the Stars will be on TV3 and in our viewers homes.” The agreements in Latvia and Estonia were brokered by Kamila Budziło, Format Sales Executive for BBC Studios.
