Netflix buys a package of 14 movies from Film.UA
Film.UA Group has sold the streaming rights to 14 Ukrainian films to Netflix, Forbes reports. Some of the titles are: Mad Wedding, The Big Walk, The Best Weekend, Sniper. White Crow, and Foxter and Max, which is still under negotiation. The full list of projects that interested the streaming service is unknown.
As the publication notes, Ukrainian films and TV series began to appear on Netflix in 2015, but in small quantities. Among the projects bought by the service since that time are two parts of the TV series Servant of the People starring Volodomyr Zelensky, the documentary Winter on Fire and the drama Rhino by Oleh Sentsov. Previously, the series The Sniffer and the documentary Home Games were also available on the platform, but the rights to show them expired.. In September, three new Ukrainian films appeared on the streaming platform at once: Wild Field, Amber Cops and Meeting of Classmates. But the purchase of almost a dozen projects at once, according to the publication, happens for the first time. Forbes experts note that the interest of streaming in Ukrainian products is explained by the increase in popularity of Ukraine in the world. The value of the deal with Netflix is unknown. Sources of the publication call the amount up to $50.000 per title. RELATED
