Ukrainian and Latvian media regulators sign cooperation memo
During October 4-7, a delegation of the Latvian media regulator NEPLP is in Kyiv on an official visit. On October 5, the head of the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine Olha Herasymiuk and the head of the National Council for Electronic Mass Media of Latvia Ivars Abolins will sign the Memorandum on cooperation in the field of broadcasting regulation.
As the parties note, information security of the television and radio space is an inseparable component and an overriding condition for ensuring the national security of both states. They strive to ensure the development of audiovisual creativity and to deepen cultural ties and friendly relations between participants in the media sphere of both countries. The Republic of Latvia is one of the most active European countries in countering Russian propaganda, which by its decisions stopped the distribution of dozens of Russian TV channels and websites that spread distorted and false information about world events, the war in Ukraine, and justified Russia's actions.
