EBU considers supporting Ukrainian pubcaster a top priority
Noel Curran, General Director of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), stated that supporting Ukraine's public media service is a top priority for the organization during the 90th General Assembly of the EBU, which was held in Spain on June 29-30. In particular, he noted that during a full-scale invasion, the number one priority is Suspilne’s productions. "We will help spread stories from Ukraine through our reporters, newsrooms, and through news sharing in Europe and the world," Noel Curran said, quoted by Suspilne.
Regarding further cooperation, he said that members of the European Broadcasting Union and Suspilne can produce joint documentaries and journalistic investigations. Noel Curran also noted that he was recently in Kyiv and was impressed by what he saw. “People show incredible resilience and I think it's so important to share stories like this. Of course, co-production is the way to go," emphasized Noel Curran. According to him, the EBU has already developed several special projects about the events of the full-scale war in Ukraine, in particular the investigation into the deportation of Ukrainian children from Ukraine to Russia: "The materials of our journalists turned out to be disturbing and very emotional. They were broadcast all over the world and received an incredible response. That's why we want to see more such investigations." RELATED
