Brave and Beautiful will be adapted in Spain #MIPCOM
Secuoya Studios Stories and Ay Yapim announced jointly at MIPCOM that they will create an adaptation of Turkish drama hit Brave and Beautiful for the Spanish TV viewers. Brave and Beautiful is the first project from the Stories area, led by executive producer Eduardo Galdo, a new entrant to the Secuoya Studios team. The series will air on Antena 3.
“We’ve been working intensively with our friends from Ay Yapim for months now and the rapport is amazing. We’ve had the privilege of visiting several of their shoots in Istanbul. We’ve seen the excellent image value they give their productions: always filmed in stunning natural locations and with highly professional technical and art crews. The two companies’ marketing departments are already working in partnership on the international promotion of this new version of Brave and Beautiful. As for the script, after meeting with Ece Yorenç, who created the original format, a large team led from Spain by Lele Portas is working on the adaptation screenplays,” says Eduardo Galdo, head of Secuoya Studios Stories. Kerem Çatay, CEO, Ay Yapim said, “The main idea behind this partnership is to bring long-running dramas back to Spanish primetime. Turkish dramas have proven themselves in primetime, to the point where Atresmedia is running them three evenings a week. Our series work in Spain, so an adaptation like this only makes sense.” Brave and Beautiful (Cesur ve Güzel) premiered on Star TV in 2016 and proved an instant hit in Turkey, and went on to travel internationally thanks to distributor Eccho Rights. In 2018, it was nominated for an International Emmy for Best Telenovela. With Brave and Beautiful, Secuoya Studios and Ay Yapim are taking the first step towards building their partnership to develop TV adaptations of the Turkish production company’s international hit for the global market. The Spanish studio, a leading player in the creation, production and distribution of Spanish-language content, and one of Turkey’s largest film and TV production companies are joining forces to co-develop, co-finance and co-produce Spanish-language versions of Turkey’s biggest global hits.
