Paprika Studios crime series launches on Netflix
Following its launch on the Swedish streaming service Viaplay, the six-part crime series Murderesses based on the novel by successful Polish crime writer Katarzyna Blonda is now also available on Netflix. The series was produced by Paprika Studios.
The series revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a high-ranking police officer. The case is investigated by his daughter Karolina (Maja Pankiewicz), a young, loud-mouthed, and ambitious district police officer who hopes that solving the case will not only ease her guilty conscience, but also help her rise in the police hierarchy. The young woman is determined to find her missing father, who had a difficult relationship with her, and to find out what happened to him at all costs - even if she must break legal and moral laws to do so. Her investigation is made more difficult by the fact that she has little support from her family and has had to accept that her idealized memories of her father have little to do with reality. As she investigates the past, she not only has to deal with her own past and the memory of her father, but also with the widespread network of corruption that she uncovers. The series stars Maja Pankiewicz, Izabela Kuna, Eliza Rycembel and Tomasz Schuchardt. All episodes are directed by Kristoffer Rus and the screenplay was written by Wiktor Piątkowski, together with Joanna Kozłowska and Katarzyna Kaczmarek. The entire series was directed and produced by Kristoffer Rus, the head of Paprika Studios Poland, and co-produced by Ákos Erdős, the managing director of the Budapest-based company. RELATED
