Poll: Trust in Ukrainian media drops significantly in 2023
Trust in Ukrainian media dropped significantly in 2023, with trust indicators going back to the December 2021 level, IMI writes.
This is evidenced by the all-Ukrainian survey on the dynamics of trust in social institutions in 2021–2023 by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, conducted between November 29 and December 9, 2023. Over the last year, the number of those who trust Ukrainian mass media dropped from 57% (in 2022) to 29% (in 2023). At the same time, the number of people who do not trust them has increased from 14% (in 2022) to 40% (2023). In December 2021, 32% of respondents trusted the media and 39% did not. The survey took place on November 29 to December 9, 2023, by way of telephone interviews using a computer. The sample included 1,031 respondents (aged 18 and up) living in all oblasts of Ukraine (except Crimea AR). The sample did not include residents of the territories temporarily not controlled by Ukrainian authorities before February 24, 2022 (AR Crimea, Sevastopol city, certain parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts), or Ukrainian citizens living abroad. The error margin for the sample was 3.4% or less for indicators close to 50%; 3.0% or less for indicators close to 25%; 2.1% or less for indicators close to 10%; 1.5% or less for indicators close to 5%.
