Arena Sport keeps Serie A rights
Telekom Serbia's Arena Sport channels will pay 24 million euros per season for the right to broadcast matches of the first Italian football league for the Balkans for the next period. This is more expensive than the price paid in Belgium, as well as Switzerland, Austria and Germany, for broadcasting this league, N1 reports.
The Serie A clubs inked the new broadcasting agreements in Milan on December 18, marking the inception of new international media rights for the league from the 2024-25 season. These rights surpass the fees paid by Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, with the Balkans region stepping up to the forefront with Telekom Srbija’s Arena TV. According to data from Sportcal.com, the total value of the signed international media rights has seen a 14% uptick compared to the contracts covering the current cycle, which concludes at the end of 2023-24. The bids from current rights holders until 2029 are valued at a baseline of 4.5 billion euros, translating to 900 million euros per season. This figure marks a slight dip compared to the current fees shelled out by Sky and DAZN, which stand at 930 million euros annually. RELATED
