Talpa Studios and Kanal D Romania announced yesterday the upcoming premiere of Million Dollar Island in Romania.

CEETV reported first about the show back in November last year.

Sebastian van Barneveld, Director Global Distribution at Talpa Studios, commented: "We are very excited about Million Dollar Island reaching Romania through Kanal D. This format caters to the growing need for exciting adventure reality and is continually evolving and adapting with each new local version.”

In a separate release for Romanian media, Kanal D called Insula de 1 milion (the local title of the show), "a revolutionary format that rewrote the way of making reality shows and bears the signature of Talpa Studios and its founder, John de Mol, in creative partnership with Monday Media".

Thousands of applicants have already signed up to participate in the most competition, Kanal D said.
