Operation Sabre wins Canneseries Award
Beta Film has celebrated a highly successful night at Canneseries, with Serbian thriller Operation Sabre winning the Special Interpretation Award of the Festival for the superb cast. The eight-hour series is based on the true events of the assassination of the Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić in 2003.
The Award goes to the entire cast of the series. Acclaimed Serbian actor Dragan Mićanović (Debt to the Sea, Emergency Center) stars as Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić, as well as to Milica Gojkovic (Besa, Black Sun) as young journalist Danica. Police inspectors Ljuba, Feđa Štukan (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, A Perfect Day), and Boris, Ljubomir Bandovic (Skin), young criminal Uroš is portrayed by up-and-coming actor Lazar Tasić (Tunnel). Goran Stanković (Morning Changes Everything, Bad Blood) and Vladimir Tagić (Children of Evil, Morning Changes Everything) created and directed Operation Sabre and wrote the scripts together with Dejan Prćić, Maja Pelević, and Marjan Alčevs. Operation Sabre is produced by This and That Productions (Snezana van Houwelingen) in co-production with Bulgaria's Agitprop (Martichka Bozhilova) for Radio Television of Serbia (RTS).
