SFF raises climate awareness with new initiative
In order to raise awareness of sustainable development and the climate challenges for all of us and future generations, in partnership with Sarajevo, the UNESCO City of Film and the Green Club, which consists of representatives of the Parliament of BiH, with the support of the United Nations Development Program in BiH (UNDP BiH) the Sarajevo Film Festival is launching a competition for young people from all over the country called Films for Future as a recognition of the global youth movement Fridays for Future.
Young people from BiH aged between 13-25 are invited to participate in the competition by sending short videos / reels lasting up to 90 seconds on the topic of how they see their contribution to solving the challenge of climate change by July 20 via e-mail along with their contact information. The candidates can also publish the videos / reels on their social networks (FB, Instagram, TikTok), using the hashtags: 30thSFF NetZero FutureIsPossible. The videos should be on one of the following topics: What can young people do for a healthier and greener planet? How can I make positive changes in my environment? Those who would like to get more information on climate-related terms and topics that will help them to better understand climate issues, can visit the UNDP Climate Dictionary. The authors of the five best videos will be selected by a creative jury and the names of the winners will be announced on August 12, which is celebrated as International Youth Day. They will be awarded with valuable prizes at an event that will be held at the festival site during the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival. Transportation for the winner/s living outside of Sarajevo will be provided by the Green Club. The winning videos will be published on the social networks of Sarajevo Film Festival, the Sarajevo UNESCO City of Film, Green Club, UNDP and the UN in BiH. In accordance with its commitment to achieving the Net Zero mission - a zero rate of pollution, with this initiative the SFF will strive to contribute to raising awareness of the importance of tackling climate challenges. By incorporating sustainable practices into the Festival's activities and encouraging the audience to actively participate in it, especially young people, the Festival is seeking to create a long-lasting positive impact on the community and the environment. The transition to environmentally sustainable and climate-friendly solutions is essential not only as a response to the global climate crisis but also for achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). CEETV reminds that the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival will be held on August 16 - 23. RELATED
