PITCH&PLAY SERIES+ wraps up today with four series from Poland and Turkey. Matylda is the latest period drama hit of TVP, while Bahar and Safir conquered the Turkish audiences this spring on TRT1 and ATV, respectively. The Other Wife is the first Indian-Turkish co-produced drama series ever, represented by GoQuest Media.
Matylda Genre: Costume Drama, 13x45' Matylda is a story about a young rebel, the daughter of a participant in the January Uprising exiled to Siberia. Dozen years passed after the Uprising – a guerrilla war that influenced the history of the Polish nation. Less than eighteen-year-old Matylda Bilińska is a restless soul, curious about the world, who is unsatisfied with the teachings instilled in girls at boarding school. Her rebellious nature means that she has to seek help from her immediate family in a charming estate in the countryside. There, she will experience her first love, discover the truth about her loved ones and learn to live on her own terms. Above all, however, she will come face to face with a deadly enemy. Matylda is a saga of great passion, heroic struggle of good against evil, betrayal, revenge and reparation. In the background, the viewers may follow major historical events of those times. Bahar Genre: Daily Drama, 114x45' Mankind has been tested for centuries on the verge of good and evil. Our identity is determined by our destiny, and our destiny is determined by the choices we make on the verge of both. Bahar is the story of a young girl who is struggling to keep the goodness inside despite all darkness around. After witnessing the murder of her father, she is trying to prove that Aysun (her stepmother) committed the murder. On the other hand, the love between Bahar and Demir who met just days before the murder grows day by day but becomes even more impossible since Aysun is obsessively attached to Demir and determined to win Demir at any cost. Safir Genre: Drama, TBAx45' Feraye, a young woman studying textile design at the Faculty of Fine Arts and working as a housekeeper at a wealthy Gülsoy family mansion in Cappadocia, has a flaw in her affection for Yaman, one of the family's heirs. Her father Muhsin wedded Cemile, who was cruel to the family and adopted Aleyna, Cemile's daughter. The Gürsoy family's head, Omer, is a hardworking domestic figure who welcomed his daughter-in-law and their three orphaned children, Ateş, Yaman, and Okan. Ateş, the eldest child, lives overseas. When Ateş's business ventures go awry, he returns to his native Cappadocia, where his grandfather has grander plans for him. Ateş refuses to change his marital status and pretends to have a girlfriend. Yaman organizes a special day to propose to Feraye, and she meets Bora, a shady character who taunts Feraye. After Yaman corrects Bora's wrongdoing, Bora can't help but go to the mansion by firing a gun on his hand. Okan hits an object on Bora's head, resulting in Bora's fainting. Bora is hospitalized, and Okan thinks he is dead, and out of fear he throws Bora to a lake, explaining the situation to Yaman and he decides to remain silenced, knowing it is the right thing to do to protect his family. Yaman is now forced to wed Aleyna as a result of threats made by an eyewitness. To once more defend his family, he obeys. Aleyna deceives Feraye by claiming Yaman has feelings for her. This incident shatters Feraye's entire world. Feraye becomes insane and decides to set the house on fire after speaking with Yaman. Ateş saves her, and at the hospital, they learn that Feraye is expecting a baby. In the end, Ateş, will wed Feraye to protect the child and unite his family. Both loves are unable to reveal their truths, and Ateş will eventually fall in love with Feraye. The Other Wife Genre: Melodrama, 134x45' Ceylan is a kind and dutiful daughter, but when her father tries to sell her as a second wife or “kuma,” she runs for it. Along the way she meets Karan, a wealthy young businessman who takes Ceylan under his protection. The two fall in love, but when Ceylan is framed for the murder of Karan’s brother, love turns to hate. Karan marries his dead brother’s widow and makes Ceylan become his kuma.
