Eccho Rights announces remake deals for Ezel
The Turkish drama series Ezel has been remade in India, launching on Disney+ Hotstar under the local title Gunaah. The original Ay Yapim production, created in 2009, was part of the original wave of Turkish Dramas to travel the globe, sold to more than 150 territories worldwide by distributor Eccho Rights.
Eccho Rights has additionally licensed the scripts for remake in several territories, with new versions commissioned in Mexico, Armenia, and a hugely successful adaption in Romania, Vlad. The Indian version of Ezel is the first deal with Disney+ Hotstar for Eccho Rights and Ay Yapim. “Time and again, Ezel has shown to be one of the most enthralling titles in the international drama market, both as a readymade but also with the script having been licensed the world over, by broadcasters and producers looking for a drama that ticks all the boxes - action, romance, thrills and heartbreak. It is a unique story that will continue to thrill audiences for years to come!” - said Melis Hamamcioglu, Director of Digital Media Acquisition & Content Sales at Eccho Rights, who concluded the license with Disney+ Hotstar. Eccho Rights will also distribute the readymade rights for Gunaah outside of India. Ezel, produced by Kerem Catay for Ay Yapim, was written by Pinar Bulut and Kerem Deren. Gunaah follows the story of Abhimanyu, played by Gashmeer Mahajani, who embarks on a journey of vengeance after a betrayal. The series also stars Surbhi Jyoti and Zayn Ibad Khan. Gunaah is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar with new episodes dropping every day from Monday to Friday. RELATED
